Hawaiian Treasures Celebration Tour 2009

One week until the House Concert. I am so pleased to be involved with bringing George Kahumoku, Dennis Kamakahi, and Richard Ho`opi`I to San Antonio, Texas. Aunty Melissa Montiz contacted George, Rene`e is offering the studio at Aloha Roses and Flowers for the performance, and I have taken on the task of promoting and selling tickets.
Mahalo to `Ohana o Hawai`i and Guitar Tex for their kokua. I hope to add more folks to the committee for the next House Concert.
Many hands make light work.

( Everyone is Welcome!)

Pua Hone

Another of Rev Dennis Kamakahi’s songs that I am teaching my haumana(students) is Pua Hone. I found a young man named Dayton who played and sang this song with great emotion and aloha. I proud to share this video with you and thank him for posting it on YouTube.

Wahine `Ilikea

One of my hundred favorite songs is Wahine `Ilikea, written by Rev. Dennis Kamakahi. Here is a wonderful version with father (Dennis) and son (David) playing Hawaiian slack key and ukulele respectively, with a lovely unnamed hula dancer. Maika`i no!

Mahalo to all for sharing the nahenahe (soft, sweet) sound and their aloha with us.

New Format and Look

2008_ipu_uke_bb1My Aloha Y`all Website is being updated with the help of my beautiful daughter, Vicki - she is soooo smart. In fact, you can actually visit her at http://Smartwomanguides.com.

I will be able to blog about all things Hawaiian, and y’all are invited to add comments.

I will be adding more pictures related to my halau, Halau ku`i, and links. Please check back and watch it grow.

If you have found your way to this website, we share a common interest, in my case, a passion and love for Hawaiian culture, music, and dance.

E komo mai.
